Mayor Ginther urges community involvement to help curb violence in Columbus

365体育投注COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mayor Andrew Ginther, Columbus Public Health Director Dr. Mysheika Roberts and Department of Neighborhoods Director Carla Williams-Scott and other community leaders held a press conference on Saturday to discuss ways to help curb the recent spike in violence across the city. 

Ginther promised community engagement and policing at Saturday's press conference.

365体育投注The mayor announced community policing on bikes in the neighborhoods of Linden, the south side and Hilltop neighborhoods. These bikers will be focused on policing and community engagement.

There will also be pop-up events and various community outreach programs to help reach out to younger people in certain neighborhoods in the city.

On Thursday, 10TV reported365体育投注 that shootings are up 340% this month compared to June 2019.
